Movie Explorer is a program designed to provide you with an instant overview of the movies available on disk or on
other media. Suited to those enthusiasts having a large collection of movies, but have no time to manually
compose an entire database. Luckily you don't have to any longer: stop collecting, start exploring!
Version 0.81b is now available
August 1, 2012
It's been a long wait, but a new version is finally available. The reason for the long waiting time is because I have
changed the framework Movie Explorer uses at its very core. Which basically called for a complete rewrite of the
program. However it allows me to develop faster and use some newer technologies. But remember we're still in the
beta stage, which means bugs are likely present. Please send me an e-mail if you find one.
New features/enhancements:
A 64-bit version is now available.
Possibility to enter the ID of unrecognized movies from the interface.
You can mark movies as 'seen' and choose whether they should be shown or not.
You can hide movies from view.
You can select multiple categories by holding down the CTRL button while clicking.
Status bar and log to provide information about the indexing and updating process.
Only files with movie file extensions (avi, mkv, etc) are indexed.
Possibility to index directories as movies or not.
Movie information is automatically updated after a fixed period.
Improved movie identification algorithm.
A new dark theme is available, you can also define your own custom theme by adding a proper formed XML file in
the Themes subfolder.
Enhanced search capabilities.
Only movie information from the services in use is downloaded.
When you have more categories than fit on the screen they are shown in a menu.
Lots of internal code changes/fixes...
Feel free to let me know what you think about the new release!

Tip for Windows XP users
Make sure you have installed the Windows Imaging Component (WIC) which allows for better quality images and faster
resizing. It is available from the Microsoft download center
here.
The beta stage
Please be aware of the fact that this program is currently under development and no stable release version is available. The provided download is a beta version and may therefore likely contain bugs. More information can be found in the FAQ section.
I also recommend you to really accept the fact that it is under development as configuration files are likely to change. So do not spend too much time hacking the XML-files trying to fix things and/or configuring the database!
